- Junction Babocomari & San Pedro rivers
Junction of Babocomari (yellow pin) and San Pedro (red pin) rivers. In approximately 1890 this area had no riparian trees and instead consisted of a marshy cienega. They now sharply eroded hillside (black pin) sloped gently downward toward the cienega. Arroyo cutting led to the formation of favorable habitats for riparian trees. For historical photographs showing the treeless cienega and the cutting of arroyos see Figures 23A-23C on pages 87 and 88 in the Massive Habitat Changes PDF accessible at HERE.
