- Meanders of the San Pedro River North of Hereford

The above satellite photograph shows one of the meanders of the San Pedro River nYeah just makeorth of Hereford. The river flows northward. Over time it will probably erode away the riverbank in the area approximately due south of the yellow marker. This erosion will move the basal start of the meander closer and closer to the general area of the yellow pin or to a slightly more northward section of the river. Eventually the erosion will result in the river cutting straight northward, leaving the meander cut off from the river and without water. The cut off meander will then be an oxbow.
